4. Police report (if available)

  • Email reply to Judy Lynn from Lauren PCSO was read out at meeting. Included: a joint action day on the Level between 10:30- 2:30. The email is as follows:

“Hi all, As some of you may be aware, we are planning a joint action day taking place at the level on 14/05/22 between 10:30-14:30

This is part of our plans to improve The Level, reducing crime and anti-social behaviour by showing the public unity between services. East Sussex Fire and Rescue will be attending, along with Brighton busses, Youth groups and Brighton and Hove Skate Association , there will also be a skate competition taking place simultaneously at the skate park, run by ‘Level Skates’.

It would be lovely to see as many of you as possible down there, working together to make The Level a safe place for everyone

Please let me know if you can attend, Kind Regards, Lauren”

  • This email was also sent to the Providence Place steering group, and has a few responses.
  • It was discussed that could the meeting make the Level an ongoing agenda item

5. Police website “Your Area” – Martin Dunleavy

  • Martin was responsible for rolling out the new website all around the country. This is partly due to cut back in the police force nationally.
  • It is a better way of working for the public.

Martin demonstrated the websites functions to the meeting. The following was shown:

A particular interest for the LAT is the ‘What is happening in your area’ page. This page allows you to find resources and PCSO’s in a certain area. This includes:

  • A map of the area
  • A crime map of the area, this is broken down into the busiest areas of the chosen area
  • List of contacts, which allow you to contact the person via social media (twitter etc).
  • See the amount of crime that has been reported. This is updated every 4 weeks
  • The boundaries of the crime map are broken into the different wards.
  • The user can see the different crime levels in the area, which is represented by a graph that shows the trends.
  • There is also a section of the area page where you can contact a particular police officer; this is on the contact us section at the bottom of the page. This will then take you to a triage section where you can then sort the crime you want to report into the detail of the crime etc.
  • The triage system also gives the user the opportunity to send an email directly to the police officer they have been dealing with before.
  • This is easier than 101 but 101 is still available (at the time of this presentation).
  • Reporting a crime takes the user to a form, which allows them to give all the details of the crime. It will then ask for their contact details. This form can be completed on pc, tablets and mobiles.
  • The report section also has the option of recording a missing person, where the user can upload a photo. This is a new service.
  • The video is here

6. Updates:

  1. Proposed ward boundary changes (comments submitted)
  • This will affect the local ward councillors.
  • The second version puts the boundary right down the middle of London Road.  There are lots of different issues all the way down the road. Philip and Judy Lynn have submitted comments reflecting this to the electoral commission.

2. Providence Place Project Manager (interview April 15th)

  • Have not heard back from Alan Buck as yet.
  • Action point: Judy to email him to ask what the latest is regarding this.
    • Judy will speak to Hannah Barker (Community engagement) to see if we can get a consultation that is door-to-door.
  • Residents are concerned with the amount lighting during the building phase coming from the development. It is kept on all night. This is causing disturbance during the night as they can see it in their homes.
  • Action Point: Need to find out who is involved with this. Judy will contact James Pease and also why it is happening.

3. LWCIP

  • Walking and cycling, scheme as part of the development. There were no councillors were present at meeting.
    • The first phase has been completed. Currently waiting the result of a broad policy consultation

4 etc.

  • Licensing issue, to do with what was International Food and Wine.
    • Action point: Philip to look at what is the latest with this and report back.
