A TV opportunity! – from John Cook – Patcham Community Action Team #Brighton

Dear [ community-representing]  Colleague,

I have been given the opportunity to help in the making and recording of a new video (title to be decided) of life in our local communities.

The production team are very experience – having created and made full length programmes for the major TV companies in the UK and abroad – they will bring a wealth of relevant experience to the making of the programme.

The theme of the programme will centre about what is good in our communities (as oppose to the much negative news one constantly hears about) while at the same time presenting a balance view of some of the challengers residents face in their daily lives.

It aims to show that despite the grind of daily life, our communities are full of many wonderful opportunities that help 1,000’s of our local residents find enjoyment and fulfilment within a short walk of their homes.

I am told that Patcham will be at the heart of the programme but will include the wider community across Brighton & Hove.

If this project is of interest to you and you feel you have a story to share and would like to meet members of the production team to discuss matters in detail, please email me your initial thoughts and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Please share this email with as many of your colleagues as possible.

Many thanks,

Regards,

Welcome to London Road Area LAT – Brighton, Sussex, UK

The Local Action Team (LAT) is a voluntary community group which was formed in late 2008 after heart-felt public expressions of concern about the state of London Road, Brighton. Since then London Road has “been on the up” and has changed hugely for the better.

Without trying to claim all the credit it would fair to say that the LAT has been a major partner in these improvements and has had some sort of involvement with virtually all the successful contributory projects.

The LAT brings together traders and residents, ward Councillors, the neighbourhood policing team, council officers, and representatives of local residents’ and traders’ groups. The aim is to work for agreed goals in partnership, and provide a forum for viewpoints to be aired and debated.

  • Meetings are open to anyone living or working in the area.
  • The London Road LAT is in the St Peters and North Laine ward, and covers the northern end of the ward. The boundaries are; Ditchling Rise to the north, Ditchling Road and the Level to the east , St Peters Church to the south and the New England Quarter to the west. (see map).
  • Meetings are held at the Calvary Church on Viaduct Road (next to the firestation at Preston Circus) on – usually, in 2017 – the second Tuesday of each month (not August) at 6.30pm.
  • The LAT is currently chaired by local resident Rev. Philip Wells. He can be contacted by email philipwells@btinternet.com.

Next meeting: please see side panel – minutes of previous meetings are available from the menu above, agenda for the upcoming meeting is to be found below (usually a few days before the meeting).
