Ditchling Rise Area #Brighton Residents’ Association AGM – Friday 3rd July 2015

It’s the DRARA Annual General Meeting SOON: Friday 3rd July, 7.30pm London Road Station ticket hall and meeting room.

Do  come along and bring your neighbours! As last year, we’re using the station building. It’s a lovely venue on what will hopefully be a pleasant summer evening. We’ll start with light refreshments and a chance to chat and meet other people in the area.

Then the ‘business’ bit of the meeting: a report on what’s been happening this year in the area, we also need to approve the accounts and elect a committee and officers for the association. We’ll also talk about plans and issues for the forthcoming year, so please do bring ideas, concerns, points to raise … We hope to be welcoming our local Councillors and a representative from Southern Rail.

It’s been another fairly active year. We’ve had a lot of discussions with Brighton City Council, have been involved in quite a few initiatives and have been consulted on a number of planning issues. If you’d like to get more involved, why not put yourself forward for the Committee? That simply means that you try to attend regular meetings and take an active part in our discussions. Our current Committee are

Chris Sevink – Chair
Madeleine Cary – Vice-Chair
Elspeth Broady – Joint Secretary
Shirley May – Joint Secretary
Angie Meaden-Bonnell, Treasurer
Mary Stevens – Website
Diane Harris

If you’d like to stand for one of the ‘offices’ – Chair, Vice-Chair, Treasurer, Secretary – please do let us know. Elspeth, for one, would be delighted if somebody else were to put themselves forward for Secretary.

Look forward to seeing you, and do encourage your neighbours to come along.

Some current works on London Road #Brighton – June 2015

People have asked about the works on the pedestrian crossing traversing London Road between Ann Street and Oxford Street.

This was flagged up in the consultation of August 2014 and came third. Initially we were told that there was not money available for this project, but in fact we were told that money had been found for this project.

If we can find a drawing for the shape of the intended scheme we’ll post it here.

In the meanwhile here is a closer shot showing the pedestrian “build-out” taking shape.

The consultation data is found here.
