Below is the full text and details from Jim Mayor

Dear all
In February we asked where people felt we should target improvements in London Road. 227 people provided opinions. You were amongst the people who said they would like to stay involved in the decision making process.
Using feedback from consultation we’ve shortlisted three potential areas for our initial improvements. We’d like your help in choosing a final focus for those improvements.
What we’d like you to do
The options we have shortlisted for short term improvements are:
1: A General Clean / Smarten Up / Tidy
2: Minor Improvements to Preston Circus
3: Improvements to the Oxford Street / Ann St Crossing
When you have read the attached document, please choose which option you think we should focus on and email Emma Friedlander at emma.friedlander@brighton-hove.gov.uk to let us know.
We’ll choose whichever option has the most votes by 9th September.
(If you think we should focus on something else you can let us know – but hopefully the information in the attached document will explain why we have chosen this shortlist).
 What will happen next?
When we have identified which improvements our initial funding should focus on, we’ll work with you to agree exactly what those improvements should look like.
(Please note that we have not loaded the list of community facilities onto the London Road LAT website yet – this should be done shortly)
 Regards
 Jim Mayor

    Good day ,

I think that you should be looking at option 1 , I would hope that this takes in the repair of pavements , it does seem odd that the biggest amount of people who use London road are forgotten, pedestrians , even to the extent of taking down the safety rails, instead of taking down have flower boxes on them. Not sure if you go up to seven dials but now, you have taken the safety railings down , we have people stepping of the pavement all over the place , not using the crossing as to far down the road , I hope the same person is not working on the London road Project .

As for the bus stops you could just move the 5 /5b/ up the road just past oxford street , this should not cost the council anything have the bus company pay

You could also take out that bit of cycle lane outside of the Duke of York’s , I do use it but it goes no place, just to the traffic lights

    Hope this helps

    All the best

Hi Terry, thanks for your comments. As you know the LAT is a voluntary community group just functioning as a communication channel in this case. Your comments can be mentioned at the next meeting (2/9/14), or you can have your say in person if you are able to attend, but best if you write in to the Council yourself to … Emma.Friedlander@brighton-hove.gov.uk It’s also well worth looking at the accompanying pdf carefully too which explains the process etc. etc., best wishes, Philip Wells

Thanks for flagging this up. I have to say that the later comments in the Argus column which characterise the road as dominated by “druggies and drunks” are, at best, several years out of date in my opinion (as someone who actually goes there most days!) – Philip
