Below is the full text and details from Jim Mayor

Dear all
In February we asked where people felt we should target improvements in London Road. 227 people provided opinions. You were amongst the people who said they would like to stay involved in the decision making process.
Using feedback from consultation we’ve shortlisted three potential areas for our initial improvements. We’d like your help in choosing a final focus for those improvements.
What we’d like you to do
The options we have shortlisted for short term improvements are:
1: A General Clean / Smarten Up / Tidy
2: Minor Improvements to Preston Circus
3: Improvements to the Oxford Street / Ann St Crossing
When you have read the attached document, please choose which option you think we should focus on and email Emma Friedlander at emma.friedlander@brighton-hove.gov.uk to let us know.
We’ll choose whichever option has the most votes by 9th September.
(If you think we should focus on something else you can let us know – but hopefully the information in the attached document will explain why we have chosen this shortlist).
 What will happen next?
When we have identified which improvements our initial funding should focus on, we’ll work with you to agree exactly what those improvements should look like.
(Please note that we have not loaded the list of community facilities onto the London Road LAT website yet – this should be done shortly)
 Regards
 Jim Mayor

Summer update 2014 – lots happening!

We don’t usually have a LAT meeting in August – here are some updates.

The Co-op building is proceeding and is headed for the deadline of 1st September when the residential part is to be ready for student occupants. Kara Ward (Watkin Jones) tells us that this is all on schedule. The retail units on the ground floor won’t be finished until later. Wouldn’t it be wonderful for the site’s neighbours to be finished with the upheaval that has been doing on during the building works.

There was a visit by Shops Minister Penny Mordaunt on Tuesday 7th August in connection with the Portas Pilot project. She did a whistle-stop tour of the Open Market, and various other venues. This was covered by BBCSussex, the Argus, LatestTV and others.

The Portas Town Team has been awarding £5k of shop-front improvement grants to applicants. This should give smaller traders a boost in lifting the quality of the street.

The team is looking to form itself into a Community Interest Company (CIC) in order to keep the initiatives going when the pilot comes to an end in a few weeks’ time.

The Level forum had a meeting at the Velo cafe, with a follow-up scheduled for August 19th at 6.00.

The Providence Place gardens project is due to be commencing in August.
